Our Guests

The Chairman of CGTA visits Pimlico Open Mic
On June 10, Christina, the Chairperson of the Churchill Gardens Tenants Association (CGTA), graced us with her presence at Pimlico Open Mic (PoM), where she met all our enthusiastic members. Since the launch of our sessions in the third week of January, Christina and her colleagues have been unwavering in their support. We share a common challenge: finding creative ways to engage more residents of Churchill Gardens in our vibrant club activities. The heart and soul of PoM’s mission is to tackle this very challenge, and we are excited to foster a greater sense of community together.

The Singing Time

Killing Me Softly
Tara paid a heartfelt tribute to the legendary singer Roberta Flack, whose remarkable talent touched the lives of so many and who sadly left us recently. One of her most beloved songs, “Killing Me Softly with His Song,” composed by the brilliant Charles Fox and featuring poignant lyrics by Norman Gimbel, resonated deeply with millions around the world. Can't Live Without You
The iconic song “Without You,” initially featured on the 1970 album *No Dice*, was brilliantly reimagined by Mariah Carey in 1994. Her heartfelt and powerful delivery transformed it into an international number one hit, captivating listeners around the globe. In this session of PoM, Navtam and Tara sought to evoke that same profound passion, striving to leave the audience spellbound. Click to listen to the original song and experience its timeless magic.

I'd Like To Teach The World
Roberto lead the group song of the session with a heartfelt rendition of “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing in Perfect Harmony,” a timeless classic originally known as “True Love and Apple Pie.” This enchanting song, released in 1971 by The New Seekers, gained fame as a jingle for The Coca-Cola Company. Click here to experience the original and let the melody sweep you away.

Yahoooooo!!
The exuberant exclamation “Yahoooooo” was famously brought to life by the ‘Indian Elvis Presley,’ Shammi Kapoor, in the iconic film *Junglee*, released in 1961.
